Bristle Blasting
With bristle blasting metallic surfaces can be cleaned using a specifically designed rotating bristle. The effect is similar to a normal non abrasive blasting treatment.
The bristle wires do bend back after hitting the surface, thus enabling a real local impact each time they hit the surface similar to incoming shot.
Bristle blasting is mainly applied on site if traditional blasting with shot is not allowed; the technique is especially useful as pre-treatment of welds, before coating with aluminium (TSA) or a paint.
By this on site pre-treatment a substantial cost reduction can be obtained.
Description of the Technique
An extensive decription of Bristle Blasting can be found in a paper which will be published shortly.
